This year has certainly got off to a flying start ! On leaving London just having been granted my Associateship in Wedding Photography I was delighted to find I had also been Awarded South West Photographer of the Year for the Master Photographers Association for the second year running. The winning images were in the catagories of Classical Wedding, Reportage Wedding and also won the title of Commercial Photographer of the year. I was delighted too have my Classical Wedding image win best over- all image. The wining photograph was taken at the stunning wedding venue at Bovey Castle and the commercial image was one of a series of images taken for Vaughan’s Hair Salon in Plymouth to promote their styling. The Evening Herald also kindly ran a feature about my work the link can be found below. I am now looking forward to the new wedding season and shooting some fabulous couples and also persuing some exciting shoots I have planned.
I am delighted to be the only Plymouth based photographer to be recognised as an Associate of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers in Wedding Photography.I had already qualified with my Licentiate which looks for competence and skill but with Associate images there is the added requirement that the judges need to see ‘far more creative interpretation, better choice of location, more thought and faultless technique.’
Here are the 20 images from my qualifying panel which all were taken on real commissioned weddings.
I was up bright and early ….. well early anyway this morning as I was interviewed by Radio Devon on Sparksy’s show. This was in response to my South West Master Photographer of the Year Award. It was quite nerve-racking but hopefully it was of interest to the listeners.I was asked about my wedding photography and various details regarding it . Thanks too,to Gordon Sparks you made the experience not too stressful at all!
Last month was the final month for entering the International Photography Competition run by the Society of wedding and portrait photographers. I am happy to say I had two Gold Awards plus two upgrades from earlier in the year.I am really looking forward to the Convention in January and final awards it is also a great opportunity to meet other photographers and see other photographers speak about their work. I have been asked to speak again this year and hope to meet photographers and share some of the things I have learned with them. Here are the Award winning images.
On Monday I attended the Southwest region annual print competition.I had submitted several images into various categories. They were judged by Desi Fontaine who is the National President of the Association and an extremely skilled and creative photographer and one of only a few women Fellows in the organisation. The winning images were in the following categories Classical weddings, portrait, Engaged couple,Monochrome, pictorial,Open ( anything goes!) and also the David Facey Memorial trophy for most inspiring image. Here are the winning images.
I am delighted to announce I have 2 Gold Awards In the November SWPP Competition. The images were for Traditional wedding which was photographed in Sorrento in Italy earlier this year and also an image taken at Kitley House Hotel In Devon a few weeks ago in the Bridal Portrait category. These awards are entered by many photographers from all over the world so I feel very happy to have achieved this level of work. All the Gold winning images will be judged in the final competition in January in London. Here are my winning images.
