I am totally delighted and excited to announce that I am the current UK Wedding Photographer of the year!

The Master Photographers Association very kindly wrote this about myself and my work.

Louise was crowned UK Wedding Photographer of the Year as well as picking up the grand-prize in the category of Wedding Day and Celebration in the 2012 Master Photography Awards. Louise beat-off stiff competition to scoop her prize, with other leading photographers from across Britain all striving for recognition in the awards.

Louise’s achievement is even more special as it happened this year – 2012 is a diamond year for the MPA as they celebrate their 60th Anniversary.

Hundreds of professional photographers from around the world were joined by representatives from the major photographic companies at the glittering Awards ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Newcastle.

Along side these awards Louise also gained the title of South West Winner of the Mario Acerboni Award which is an Italian Album Company who attends the awards. This was assessed on 3 images from one wedding.

The Awards, run by the Master Photographers Association (MPA), is one of the most prestigious within the photographic profession. Membership of the association is restricted to full time professional photographers who must qualify to the minimum required Licentiateship standard. The organisation exists to promote and maintain standards of excellence and professionalism within the photographic industry.

MPA Chief executive, Colin Buck was delighted with this year’s entries and paid tribute to Louise’s success: “All submissions were judged on the same criteria – artistic merit, good use of lighting, composition and print quality. The standard of the entries this year was possibly the best ever, with a record number being awarded merit prizes. Winning a Master Photography Award is a huge honour for any photographer and I’m delighted for Louise. They are a credit to the Association and a credit to their profession!”

I feel very humbled and honoured to receive such an accolade I am also very excited as various magazines and newspapers are interested in my story. Here is my winning image and images from the Awards Ceremony.

I was delighted too have my Classical Wedding image win best over- all image. The wining photograph was taken at the stunning wedding venue at Bovey Castle and the commercial image was one of a series of images taken for Vaughan’s Hair Salon in Plymouth to promote their styling. The Evening Herald also kindly ran a feature about my work the link can be found below. I am delighted to be the only  Plymouth based photographer  to be recognised as  an Associate of the Society of  Wedding and Portrait Photographers in Wedding Photography.I had already qualified with  my  Licentiate which looks for competence and skill but with Associate images there is the added requirement that the judges need  to see ‘far more creative interpretation, better choice of location, more thought and faultless technique.’

Here are the 20 images from my qualifying panel which all were taken on real commissioned weddings.

Thanks too,to Gordon Sparks you made the experience not too stressful at all!
